Food Bank Garden

The Food Bank Garden was built by local people and supports the Slocan Valley Food Cupboard during the growing and harvesting season. The Food Bank Garden is tended by our Garden Manager, Cory, seasonal Garden Assistants, and our amazing volunteers. In 2024 the garden produced over 2000lbs of produce to help feed the community. The Food Bank Garden also includes a Community Garden space, community members can join for a small fee and have use of some space to garden for themselves.

In 2024 we added a new greenhouse built by Argenta Greenhouses. It has allowed us to extend our growing season and area by 25%.

The Food Bank Garden also provides fresh in season produce to the community with our new Donation Fridge initiative. When there is produce available on weeks when there is no food bank, the Donation Fridge will be kept stocked outside the Food Bank door, for community members to take what they need, and leave a donation to help keep our Food Bank Garden flourishing for many years to come.

In 2025 we launched our new “Sponsor a Garden Bed” Program. So far we have 6 local businesses signed up. Here’s how it works;

🐝 Bee advocate – $100

Helps provide basic supplies and tools.

Seed Supporter – $250

A Seed Supporter sponsorship helps provide basic supplies, tools, and seeds for seasonal planting. For $250 your business name will be listed on our website as a sponsor and we’ll give you a shoutout on our social media.

Pollinator Partner – $500

A Pollinator Partner sponsorship helps enrich and maintain the garden through the purchase of high-quality soil amendments, mulch, and essential gardening tools. • For $500 your business name will be listed on our website as a sponsor, we’ll give you a shoutout on our social media and a small recognition sign (18″ x 24″) with your name and logo will be placed in a public-facing area near the skatepark

Harvest Champion – $1,000

A Harvest Champion sponsorship provides vital support for irrigation systems, infrastructure improvements, and garden expansion. For $1000 your business name will be listed on our website as a sponsor, we’ll give you a shoutout on our social media and a large recognition sign (24″ x 36″) will be placed in a prominent public-facing area near the skatepark
